Primitive Influence Glass Studio
Primitive Influence Glass Studio
Gary Carter | artist
native to Northwest Arkansas, started working in hot glass in 1994. He had no prior experience working with glass, but immediately developed a passion for the art form while working for a local glass studio. He was fortunate enough to observe and work with many talented and accomplished glass artists. With their help, his skills flourished.
He describes his work as an exploration in color and pattern while striving for perfection in forms both classic and contemporary. He employs both force of gravity and rhythm in motion to manipulate molten glass into pieces both beautiful and functional. Many of his techniques are similar to those developed by early glass blowers more than 2000 years ago. Gary has always been fascinated by the fact that many of these techniques as well as tools have changed little from these seemingly primitive beginnings. This is the inspiration for the name Primitive Influence Glass Studio.
